since 1933 : Nordic Sound Reimagined

Heritage & Pioneering Legacy

The story of Vifa began in 1933, when N.C. Madsen founded the Videbæk Loudspeaker Factory in rural Denmark. From the very beginning, the company created premium electrodynamic speakers for iconic names, including Bang & Olufsen, quickly earning a reputation for acoustic precision. In 1981, the company adopted the name Vifa, marking the beginning of an era of innovation that included patented technologies such as the NRSC non-resonant suspension coupling and the XT-series ring radiator tweeter. These breakthroughs helped define high-fidelity sound for a generation of listeners.

After decades of change through mergers, technology spin-offs, and market shifts, Vifa reemerged in 2014 as Vifa Denmark A/S. This revival honored its acoustic heritage while embracing modern lifestyles, introducing a collection of wireless speakers named after Nordic capitals. With this transformation, Vifa secured its position as a design-conscious brand that brings Denmark's sound legacy into contemporary living.

Design Philosophy & Sound Identity

Vifa stands at the intersection of audiophile engineering and Nordic minimalist design. Its philosophy, articulated through the triad of Acoustic Craft, Acoustic Technology, and Acoustic Design, insists on harmony between performance and form. Each speaker is treated as an object of craftsmanship as much as a tool for listening.

Collaborations with Danish textile house Kvadrat provide soft and tactile coverings, while aluminum details and vegetable-tanned leather straps from Tärnsjö add a touch of refinement. The result is an elegant and understated design language. Vifa's speakers are designed to integrate seamlessly into interiors, offering quiet sophistication that enhances rather than disrupts the room's flow.

Cultural Impact & Recognition

Vifa has earned recognition as both a leader in sound and a pioneer in design. Its speakers have been featured in Pitchfork's guides to outdoor audio, as well as in Wallpaper, Totally Wired, and other design and technology outlets. The Copenhagen, with its iconic briefcase silhouette wrapped in Kvadrat textile, remains one of the brand's most recognizable pieces.
