Trudon

since 1643 : Heritage Fragrance Objects

Trudon, often referred to as Cire Trudon, is the world’s oldest surviving candle and wax manufacturer, tracing its history back to 1643 in Paris. Once the purveyor of candles to the French royal court and grand cathedrals, the house still embodies this heritage of refinement and ritual. Today, Trudon channels that legacy into its Home Objects collection, which includes candles, room sprays, and its cult-favorite diffusers, designed not only to scent a space but also to serve as objets d’art.

Design, Materials & Craft

Each diffuser is housed in Trudon’s signature fluted green glass vessel, mouth-blown in the same specialist glassworks that produces its candles. The jar is weighty, sculptural, and finished with the house’s gold emblem, a nod to its centuries of French craftsmanship.

The Olfactory World

Trudon builds each scent like a delicate perfume, with layered top, heart, and base notes that evolve as they diffuse. A few standouts include:

Abd El Kader

Blackcurrant bud, lemon, clove, spearmint, and jasmine over a soft vanilla base, evoking the aroma of Moroccan mint tea.

Versailles

Peonies, mint, and thyme opening into linden, tuberose, and honeysuckle, anchored by upcycled oakwood and iris.

Ernesto

Bergamot, rum, and clove with a rich base of tobacco, leather, amber, and moss.

Cyrnos

Lemon, thyme, and myrtle balanced with cedar, black fig, lavender, and patchouli.

Spiritus Sancti

Aldehydes, lily of the valley, and incense resins for a church-like glow.

This layered structure gives Trudon’s diffusers a slow-unfolding, atmospheric quality, more akin to a perfume than a simple room scent.
