Tamburins
since 2016 : Where Art, Scent, and Beauty Collide
Founded in Seoul in 2016 by the creative minds behind Gentle Monster, Tamburins extends the eyewear brand’s disruptive design ethos into the realm of beauty. Conceived as a “sensory art and beauty house,” Tamburins treats cosmetics not simply as products but as collectible design objects and multisensory experiences. Its DNA is artistic, tactile, and conceptual, an elevated vision of beauty where every product carries the weight of storytelling and aesthetic intrigue.
Multi-Layered Visual & Sensory Narrative
At Tamburins, packaging is more than protection; it is narrative and sculpture. Hand creams are designed like miniature clutches, folding and creasing like leather accessories.
The Shell Perfume Hand Cream features subtly asymmetrical seashell shapes, ensuring no two pieces are identical.
Egg-shaped lip balms resemble artifacts, while matte black pump bottles transform soaps into minimalist objects of art. Each creation blurs the line between sensory indulgence and ritual utility, positioning daily essentials as objects of desire.
Curated Product Universe
Tamburins has built a deliberately layered and tightly curated product line. It began with hand creams, such as Chain 000 with sandalwood and patchouli. It quickly expanded into lip balms, perfumed soaps, compact perfume balms, body washes, candles, sanitizers, and even car diffusers.
Their celebrated Harvest Perfume Soap collection was launched alongside immersive installations that evoked rice fields and scarecrow-dotted landscapes, reinforcing Tamburins’ identity as a brand where fragrance, nature, and culture intertwine.
Immersive Stores & Brand Ecosystem
Shopping at Tamburins is closer to visiting an art gallery than it is to visiting a store. Flagship spaces in Seongsu and Sinsa are defined by monolithic concrete, dramatic lighting, and curated sensory landscapes.
Like Gentle Monster, the brand invests heavily in visual strategy—over two-thirds of its small creative team are dedicated to art direction and storytelling. Each store is an evolving installation that adapts with product launches, making the shopping experience an immersive cultural encounter.
Cultural Resonance & Narrative Power
Tamburins thrives on cultural storytelling and star power. A campaign featuring Blackpink’s Jennie amplified the group's global visibility, cementing its cult status among beauty aficionados. But beyond celebrity, Tamburins builds resonance through its wordless narratives, crafted from scent, image, and space.
Products often sell out quickly in Seoul’s trend-forward retail hubs, where they are embraced as viral collectibles that merge fashion, beauty, and art. In this way, Tamburins transcends the beauty retail sector, positioning itself as an aesthetic movement and a cultural brand in its own right.
