Salus

since 2010 : Australian Spa Skincare Reimagined

Founded in Melbourne in 2010 by Jason Cook, a wellness industry veteran with more than two decades of experience, Salus Body set out to challenge assumptions about natural skincare. Cook saw how plant-based products were often dismissed as ineffective compared to chemically driven formulas. His vision was to prove that natural skincare could be both luxurious and results-driven while offering sensorial richness.

The name Salus comes from the Roman goddess of health and well-being, reflecting the brand’s mission to nurture mind, body, and spirit through everyday rituals of care.

Philosophy & Core Values

Salus describes itself as an at-home spa brand, bringing the atmosphere of a spa into daily life. Its philosophy rests on four pillars:

Nature and Science

Harnessing native botanicals such as Kakadu Plum, Quandong, Lemon Myrtle, and Tasmanian Pepper alongside proven actives.

Transparency

Always vegan, cruelty-free, and free from sulfates, parabens, mineral oils, and artificial fragrances.

Sustainability

Commitment to renewable sugarcane packaging, recyclable bottles, FSC-certified paper, and renewable energy production.

Mindful Rituals

Every product is designed to slow the pace of life and create restorative, spa-like moments.

Hero Ingredients & Australian Botanical Identity

Salus draws heavily on native Australian botanicals, giving the brand its unique identity. Kakadu Plum offers one of the world’s richest sources of natural vitamin C. Quandong provides gentle fruit acid exfoliation. Lemon Myrtle refreshes with antibacterial qualities. Macadamia and Rosehip oils nourish and strengthen the skin barrier, while Eucalyptus and Tea Tree deliver deep cleansing benefits. Each formula captures a sense of the Australian landscape and offers an aromatic spa signature.

Sustainability Practices

Sustainability is embedded in the brand’s DNA. Tubes are made from renewable sugarcane bioplastics, bottles are recyclable glass or plastic, and packaging uses FSC or PEFC-certified paper. All products are produced locally in Melbourne, keeping supply chains short and reducing emissions. Salus avoids wasteful seasonal releases, focusing instead on timeless bestsellers and considered gift sets.

Cultural Impact & Distribution

Salus has built a strong presence across Australia and New Zealand, with more than 500 retail partners, including premium design and lifestyle stores such as The Lab Organics, Saison, and Natural Supply Co. The brand also collaborates with boutique hotels, wellness retreats, and day spas, cementing its credibility as a professional-level spa product.

During the pandemic, Salus became a go-to brand for Australians recreating spa rituals at home. Coverage in lifestyle outlets like Broadsheet highlighted how the brand bridges design, wellness, and conscious beauty.

Brand Highlights & Differentiators

Salus stands apart through its focus on Australian native botanicals, its strong spa-to-home crossover identity, and its consistent monochrome apothecary aesthetic.

More than skincare, Salus represents a philosophy of slowing down, living consciously, and embracing the restorative power of daily rituals.
