Founded in 2004 in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, MALIN+GOETZ was born out of both necessity and vision. Malin, who had long struggled with eczema, rosacea, and fragrance sensitivities, wanted skincare that was gentle yet effective. Goetz, with his background in design and branding, helped shape the brand’s clean, modern identity. Their first apothecary-style shop was literally located beneath their apartment, where they sold directly to customers and launched partnerships with Barneys New York and Liberty London.
