Magda Butrym
since 2014 : Romantic Strength from Warsaw to the World
Founded in Warsaw in 2014, Magda Butrym’s eponymous label reflects the city’s dual spirit of modern minimalism and nostalgic romanticism. A self-taught designer, Butrym honed her skills as a stylist and at Polish fashion houses, such as La Mania, developing a sharp understanding of women’s wardrobes and the nuances of tailoring. Her breakthrough came early when Kim Kardashian wore one of her leather skirts, instantly propelling the brand into global visibility and celebrity acclaim.
Artistic Identity & Romantic Flair
Butrym’s aesthetic is defined by contrasts: strength and tenderness, structure and softness. Sculptural shoulders and bold tailoring sit alongside delicate flourishes such as hand-embroidered florals, crocheted overlays, lace trims, and her signature rose motifs drawn from Slavic folklore.
Referencing vintage icons like Yves Saint Laurent and Halston, her work remains uniquely Eastern European, steeped in introspection, defiance, and nostalgia while still wholly modern.
Craftsmanship: Made in Poland, Handmade with Intention
Every collection is anchored in artisanal collaboration with Polish craftspeople, from hand-knitted lace in Silesia to intricate embroidery and plaited leather from Podhale. Butrym’s dedication to craftsmanship was spotlighted in her Fall 2025 Magdalena collection, unveiled in Paris amidst custom-woven linen and alpaca installations, with more than 150 hours of labor mirroring the tactile narratives of the garments themselves.
Cultural Roots & Feminine Power
Slavic heritage is central to Butrym’s philosophy. She insists, “I don’t want to define women. I want to empower them… we should all be our own muses.”
Her collections embody this ethos, offering silhouettes that are cinematic, intimate, and fiercely independent. Each piece resonates with sensitivity and quiet strength, carrying cultural memory into contemporary fashion.
Milestones & Global Expansion
From early recognition at Paris Fashion Week to celebrity red-carpet moments, Butrym has built an international presence rooted in authenticity.
In 2024, she marked her tenth anniversary with the opening of a flagship store in Warsaw, cementing her roots in her hometown.
In 2025, she became the first Polish designer to collaborate with H&M, launching Femininity in Bloom, which featured corsage motifs, rose details, and organic fabrics that translated her poetic codes into accessible luxury.
Today, stocked in over 40 countries, Magda Butrym is a global fixture, dressing icons such as Renée Zellweger and Imaan Hammam, and redefining what feminine power looks like in the 21st century.
