Diemme

since 1992 : Italian Craft, From the Dolomites to the World

Founded in 1992 by brothers Dennis and Maico Signor, Diemme grew from deep roots in Italian outdoor craftsmanship into a globally respected name in contemporary footwear. For nearly twenty years, their factory, Calzaturificio Diemme, produced private-label shoes for some of the most prestigious houses in fashion, including Maison Margiela, Chanel, and Bottega Veneta, as well as cult Japanese labels such as Nonnative and Victim.

It was only in the 2010s that Diemme stepped into its own identity, releasing collections under its own name and rediscovering the essence of Italian artisanal excellence, balancing heritage techniques with modern relevance.

Mountain Roots, Urban Adaptation

Diemme’s DNA is tied to the Dolomites, where traditional hiking boots were born out of necessity. The brand has reimagined these rugged archetypes for today’s world, creating models like the Cornaro, Roccia, Everest, and Ampezzo. Engineered to withstand alpine terrains, they also command attention on city pavements, bridging the gap between performance footwear and contemporary fashion.

Artisan Production & Vertical Manufacturing

Every pair of Diemme shoes is crafted under one roof in Onè di Fonte, Veneto, a region renowned for technical and performance footwear. This vertically integrated system spans design, material sourcing, stitching, and finishing, offering unrivaled control over quality and authenticity. Unlike many fashion brands, Diemme maintains full transparency and consistency by keeping production in-house.

Craftsmanship & Production Detail

Diemme shoes are not mass-produced objects; they are artisanal creations. Each pair requires around six hours of work and approximately 50 dedicated steps, executed with precision by skilled hands. The founding brothers remain closely involved in operations, ensuring that their heritage of craftsmanship is preserved in every collection.

Prestige, Sustainability & Ethos

Diemme’s guiding principle is simple: “Buy less, buy better.” Materials are premium, constructions are purposeful, and labor is ethical. The brand prizes sustainability and provenance, crafting shoes that are meant to endure and rewarding the artisans who bring them to life. This ethos positions Diemme as a label for those who value quality over quantity, and authenticity over trend.

Global Recognition & Cultural Positioning

From a small artisan workshop, Diemme has evolved into a brand with international resonance. In celebration of its 30-year legacy, the company released Diemme.. 30 YRS., a three-volume book chronicling its journey from Veneto to fashion capitals worldwide.

By 2025, GQ highlighted Diemme as a leader in the growing utility shoe movement, where rugged trail capability meets urban sophistication. What began as mountain boots for the Dolomites has become footwear that defines a modern lifestyle, one rooted in endurance, design, and cultural credibility.
